Ummm, Matt, I hate to be anal about this but there are sharks in the Mediterranean. Not as many as there used to be, true, and more than there may one day be, but for the moment they're out there, increasingly lone sharking. I'll show myself out.
This was addressed at Brett Deveraux' blog last week. In summary the Romans knew about sharks, but they didn't know how to keep them alive long enough to use them in a gladiatorial spectacle.
Still trying to reckon whether sharks are brat or based.
You should consult the incoming US president. He has strong opinions about sharks. Not saying they make sense though…
